Yes. If admissions are closed or the relevant class is full, send us your child's name and age group and we will pass the details to the admissions team to add them to the waiting list.

No. The waiting list does not guarantee a place. It means that if a student leaves in the future, you may be contacted and invited for an assessment, depending on your position on the list. Every child is assessed before a place is confirmed.

We cannot give a fixed date. Places only open when a current student leaves, and families are then contacted in waiting-list order, so timing depends on availability and your position on the list.

Across all our classes the madrasah is open Monday to Friday, 4:45pm to 8:00pm. Within that, normal madrasah classes run 4:50pm to 6:40pm, while Hifdh runs the longer session through to 8:00pm. We also run some classes at the weekend - the timings for those depend on the course, so please check when you enrol.

Fees are collected as termly payments across three terms of the academic year, by direct debit through our online portal. The current amounts for each class are set out in full on our Fees page.

We have two sites, a short distance apart on Preston New Road, Blackburn. Male classes run at the Wali Mihrab - Issa Hikmah Centre, Blackburn BB2 6PS. Female classes run at the Maryam Mihrab, Blackburn BB2 7AA. Please check which site your class is at before setting off, as both postcodes appear in our correspondence.

Yes. Masjid-e-Vali - the main masjid building, adjacent to the Issa Hikmah Centre on the same compound - is open for ladies at all Salaah times, and the ladies' section is reached through its own separate entrance.

Our children's madrasah covers Qur'an (reading and Tajweed), Islamic studies and Arabic, taught in age-based classes during the Monday to Friday 4:50pm to 6:40pm session. Boys are taught at the Wali Mihrab and girls at the Maryam Mihrab. Specific class availability depends on the child's age and the current intake.

Yes - we run a Boys' Hifdh class at the Wali Mihrab and a Girls' Hifdh class at the Maryam Mihrab. Hifdh runs longer hours than the normal madrasah: 4:45pm to 8:00pm on weekdays, plus an additional two hours on Saturday mornings during term time - the Saturday times vary with the time of year. Places are offered by assessment. When space and assessments are available, we ask what your child has already read (how much Qur'an recited looking inside) and at which madrasah, and you complete a short online form. Please note Hifdh classes are often full, in which case children are placed on a waiting list.

Yes. From September 2026 we run three: an Alimah class for females aged 18 and over in the morning, an Alimah class for under-18s in the afternoon, and an Alim class for males, both under and over 18, in the evening. All three run for 5 to 7 years (subject to change), so please come prepared for a long-term commitment. Fees vary depending on the class, starting from £750 a year. Applicants apply and are invited to an induction day before the course begins. For the adult classes the applicant attends the induction themselves - no parent is required.

Yes. We run a 2-year 'Learn Qur'anic Arabic for Adults' course, held every Monday and Thursday. No prior study is required except the ability to read Arabic. Fees are £50 per term, or £150 for the year.

Yes - we run classes across every age group, including older students, and our Alim and Alimah programmes take both under-18s and adults. Places still depend on a suitable class being available, so please contact us with the student's age and what you're looking for (e.g. Qur'an, Tajweed, Islamic studies) and we'll advise on the options and the next intake.
